Welcome to the revamped home of Noobz, the PSP's most clueless development team, originally Ditlew and Fanjita but now a loose collection of like-minded PSP developers. At last! We promised a solution to help people trapped on firmware v3.11 by Sony's dirty tricks, and here it is. As you may know, if you have a TA-082/TA-086 motherboard , then if you downgraded your PSP to v1.50, its idstorage keys will have been patched during downgrading to avoid bricking. The latest official Sony firmwares (3.30 onwards) detect this patch, and refuse to allow you to upgrade. Without a hardware solution, this can leave you trapped on v3.11 firmware, with no way to upgrade, and no way to downgrade. This release consists of HEN for v3.11, plus a v3.11 downgrader, and an idstorage key fixer for v3.11. This allows you the choice of either - staying on v3.11 to run homebrew
- downgrading to v1.50 to run homebrew or install custom firmwares, or
- upgrading to official Sony firmwares v3.30 or beyond.
Note that you will require an unpatched Lumines to use this, in common with all other homebrew exploits for v3.10-v3.50 firmwares. Full instructions are in the README.TXT file, and you can also get support via the Noobz downgrader support forums . |

You've probably arrived here via a link in one of our eBay auctions. Here's all the info that the other sellers are trying to sell you. What they don't want you to know is that it's all available freely on the internet. First, some basic facts: - The Pandora Battery is actually a combination of specially-modified PSP battery, and specially-modified PSP pro duo memory stick.
- It allows you to unbrick, or downgrade, ANY PSP, regardless of current firmware, as many times as you like.
- Although you can convert the Pandora Battery back to an ordinary battery, you're recommended to use a spare battery, as it is more convenient and flexible.
- To make a Pandora Battery, you need a homebrew-capable PSP. If you don't have a homebrew-capable PSP, you should find a friend who does, or use the information below to find someone who can make a battery for you, for free.
So how do you get started?
- Click here for the original release article, that contains links to download all of the software that you could need.
- Here's a set of lists of volunteers who will unbrick, downgrade or make a Pandora Battery for you for free, or a minimal donation:
- Via the Noobz Forums
- Collected from the QJ / MaxConsole Forums
- Click here for an easy-to-follow guide for creating and using the Pandora Battery.
- For cheap prices on spare PSP batteries that are guaranteed for compatibility, click here (UK) or here (US) .
Some scams to beware of: - Some people are selling the battery on its own, plus instructions on how to make the memory stick. Making the battery is the easy part, and if your PSP is unable to do that, then you will be unable to make the memory stick.
- Selling the memory stick is illegal.
- Many people will try to sell you just the instructions. There are some excellent instructions available for free on the internet, including those linked to above.
- Many people are simply selling you a link to the website containing the download.

Just a quick note about the correct credit for the Pandora Battery, and the relationship between Noobz and Team C+D. Team C+D is the name that has been used for releases by the Prometheus project. It refers to the full group of developers that were involved in the project, and was used as a means to make releases that wouldn't be associated with any particular public group. Of course, it also allowed us to have a lot of fun with over-the-top release notes and stereotypical hacker posturing. Bits of research from Prometheus went into various releases from Noobz and others, but public group names were generally used when the bulk of the work was done by one specific team, or when it was just more convenient. The authors of the Pandora release should be properly credited as either the Prometheus project, or Team C+D. Places that have credited it as Noobz are incorrect - it is much more than simply a Noobz release. My apologies if that wasn't clear enough in the release post. |

We told you that we'd be releasing an unbricker for the M33 bricks. But then we got to thinking, maybe that just wouldn't be exciting enough. Would you like a super special surprise bonus? How about an unbricker for ALL PSPs? Yep, you read that right. We call it "Pandora's Battery". There's a larger story behind this unbricker, though, and it deserves to be told. It's the culmination of years of behind-the-scenes research and development by some of the top names in PSP hacking, under the name of the Prometheus project. This group of people, from various development teams, was dedicated to developing and releasing PSP hacks and exploits, with the aim of improving the status of PSP homebrew, and making sure that it was kept alive. For some time this project was highly successful - many releases from Noobz, C+D and others were direct results of this work. The zenith of this success was the development of this unbricker - which required some amazing technical leaps, including: - Reverse engineering of the service (unbrick) mode
- Development of a technique to change an ordinary battery into a service mode trigger battery (and back)
- Development of custom IPL code along with a technique to sign that code as authentic.
Even more impressive is that all of the above was achieved without any access to the official hardware or software. With careful nurturing, this unbricker and custom IPL was to become the foundation of a whole new homebrew environment. |

There's been a bit of a storm recently, with an awful lot of people's PSPs being bricked by a broken version of the latest M33 custom firmware, deliberately distributed by a certain disreputable piracy site. Here's my take on the whole situation, and maybe a ray of hope for those people who have bricked. First off, let's talk about that ray of hope. We've been looking at the M33 code, and trying to understand exactly how these bricks have come about. The good news is that we think there may be a way to undo the bricking process in this case - in other words, we hope to be able to develop a way to fix those bricks in the near future. At this time, this is just for the M33 bricks. I can't predict exactly when this might be ready (it should be very soon), but maybe it will save some of you the hassle and expense of sending your PSP off to be repaired. |

Thanks to the parasites, what was once a very easy game to buy has become very difficult. So, here's an attempt to make things a bit easier for those people who can't seem to find an unpatched version of Lumines or GTA. If you visit this page in our support forums, you can see a list of people who do have the unpatched games, and who are offering to downgrade your PSP for you. If you also are able to offer this service, then feel free to add your name to the list, and earn the gratitude of desperate PSP owners. If you need your PSP downgraded, then feel free to get in touch with one of the people on the list. Note that these people are just volunteers, and not offering a paid service. As far as I know, that is completely legal, but you might want to check that there is no problem in your jurisdiction before adding your name. |

With many thanks to GucciPAPA for sending us his Korean Lumines UMD, and to everyone else who offered to send theirs (including NeofaN, KkalKkal, Jabum, www.yourpsp.in ), we're proud to present an updated version of the v3.50 Lumines HEN and downgrader. The only change in this version is support for the Korean version of Lumines (ULKS46005). This now means that the downgrader should work on all unpatched versions of Lumines, on all regions of PSP, and all current PSP hardware, on firmware v3.50. If you have a lower firmware, you can upgrade to v3.50. If you have v3.51, then there is no way to downgrade at this time. For various further information about the downgrader, please read our other articles: - Original downgrader release post
- Downgrader FAQs
- More downgrader information
- Information about patched Lumines versions

Just a quick update to clear up some of the questions surrounding the v3.50 Lumines downgrader: - We've got a Korean Lumines UMD now, and are actively working on creating a Korean downgrader. We can't give a release date, but it will be soon. UPDATE: Here it is!
- We won't be creating a v3.51 downgrader, not for a long time. If you upgraded to v3.51 you're either stupid or unlucky. Sorry for that.
- You can't run the downgrader from a downloaded copy of Lumines. If you read the documentation, you'd know that. If you didn't read the documentation, just how did you think that would work?
- We won't be creating a downgrader for another game, not for a long time. It's just not that easy. If getting hold of Lumines in your country is expensive, blame the profiteering pricks that are hoarding their copies and selling them at inflated prices. When the exploit was first released, you could get Lumines for less than $20 in most places.
- It looks like Sony are introducing patched copies of Lumines into the market. We advise you to buy either an old version (i.e. not Greatest Hits, Platinum or The Best), or check very carefully before buying a new copy. If you buy via Amazon, it may be better to buy from the 3rd party sellers, even though they are more expensive.
- We are working on the solution to enable you to go back to official firmwares if you need to - this includes helping people stuck on
v3.30 or v3.40 v3.10 or v3.11 firmware. It will take some time though, and we're all very busy right now. - We're also still working on eLoader for HEN, and a flash management solution for people with semi-bricked v1.50 PSPs. Those will also still take some time.
- The downgrader only works on Lumines, also known as Lumines Puzzle Fusion. It doesn't work for Lumines Plus, or Lumines 2. We've said that before, but for some reason people didn't read it.
