More on exploits
Written by Fanjita    Monday, 20 April 2009

I sit down to write this post with mixed feelings.

On the one hand, I have to congratulate MaTiAz and Davee for their recent excellent work on the TIFF exploit and HEN.  Their project is exciting, and I'm sure we're all waiting with excitement for their upcoming release.  It shows that the PSP homebrew scene has not been defeated by Sony's latest efforts, and long may the spirit of competition continue.  It's also nice to see so much cooperation within the community.  Great stuff.

But on the other hand, this obsoletes the work we were doing on an eLoader for the GripShift exploit - there's no need for it, since the TIFF exploit should work on all PSPs, with or without the game.  We've worked hard on it, but so many busy events in our lives (parenting, moving house, pressures of work in the current economic climate) have meant that progress was slower than we'd hoped.

So this will be the first and only project that we've announced but not followed up on.  For that, we're sorry - but at least it's been obsoleted for the best of reasons.

Given the instability of the tiff exploit I would not say any work on Gripshift is "obsolete". But I understand the Gripshift eLoader might not be worth the amount of work it represents. Any plans to open source the eLoader one day?
Good luck with all your future projects, Fanjita (including "real life" ones)

Anyways good luck for your future projects Fanjita!

Thanks for your work Fanjita (and whoever else has been working on it with you, Ditlew?). We (well speaking for the scene right now) all thank you for your work on bringing homebrew to the PSP smilies/smiley.gif Also best of luck with your adventures in life! Hopefully the Tiff exploit and HEN development will take some of the stress off your shoulders. Until another day!

Im sad to hear that, it seems a little like "i give up", but don't metion what I say.
It's more important that your life has changed and lets all hope in a good way, and maybe (if the TIFF HEN does not become true too) that your project can be reanimated smilies/wink.gif.

Best wishes from Germany !

"parenting, moving house, pressures of work in the current economic climate" - i feel that, Davee doesn't suffer from these pressures, he's 15 years old... as are a couple of other people working on it with him.. when you're that age without distractions i guess you can work more, harder, longer and more focused.

Even though your Gripshift eLoader exploit may never be publicly released, I would still like to thank you for your efforts. Being in the parent/homeowner loop myself I know how difficult it can be to find time for anything extracurricular!
It's good to know that there's still people like you looking in on the scene once in a while smilies/wink.gif

There are many people who would rather use something made my Fanjita, or any of the Noobz, than a new younger coder. You have more experience, both with PSP and coding in general, as you have been doing it far longer than Davee. I give credit where credit is due, because his TIFF exploit deserves some serious props, however, you are still Fanjita. You will forever be one of the PSP gods, even if you never release anything for the PSP scene again. We appreciate all your hard work. Thank you.

Not to come off selfish but I bought Gripshift solely for this purpose and I would assume there are others like myself as well. Finish what you've started. On one hand it might be a duplicated effort but something new might be learned along the way. Either way Thanks Fanjita and the Noobz crew. It's because of the likes of you guys that sony even sells PSP's. Without CFW PSP's aren;t worth having.

Fanjita and the NON Noobz smilies/wink.gif A personal note to you all. While there is a supposive TIFF exploit one seriously needs to step back and reconsider finishing your work. Your team is legendary and trust worthy. I view your work like DAX - it's going to work and be solid. The supposive PSP3000 exploit release is way behind schedule now. I would have to assume someone jumped the gun "out of pure well deserved excitment" and now are finding issues. Seriously - consider knockin this thing out and once again show the world that there truly is no replacement for TEAM NOOBZ. Eternally grateful I am.

Yea hack the hack and make it include the m33 modules lol. An iso loader for the HEN would go down in history of Noobz and PSP deving. (First iso loader on psp 3000!!!)

Yah we still need some homebrew runner with m33 modules, but i think we shud leave that to DA, instead why not focus on a iso loader for more psp 'blowing open' to SONY's face...

Guys thanks lot for the hard work u all have put in over all this time. I know u guys know a lot more but i just want to suggest that u should not stop developing the eLoader for gripshift. Even after a month of TIFF exploit being known virtually nothing has come out of it. The HEN developed from it doesnt even run HBs.

So if u can, please continue with this project and lets finally c 3k hacked!!

Can anyone explain to me exactly why a dev team that's been opposed to piracy from the very start would consider undermining the work of another dev team that they respect, by releasing an ISO loader?

Sometimes it really does seem that piracy recruits from the bottom of the gene pool...
