Thanks for this ! ![]() |
for a piece of info this will not work on fat psp's.
Thanks a lot for this plugin ! But can you do a version where we charge de psp on a usb/sector adaptator ? Thanks a lot noobz !
I tried it on my fat PSP and I went to battery information and it said "Charging" but the the power light was green. Strange isn't it?
Great Work. Only this.
Does this definitely work okay? I know I have problems charging a PSP classic using a USB to PSP cable as 500mA isn't enough to power the PSP AND charge the battery at the same time. It ends up flipping between charging and not charging all the time as the PSP power usage varies. I only dare use that cable when the PSP is not in use for fear that constant flipping will wear out the battery or even break the charging circuit somehow. I will probably convert it to use 2 USB ports to get the full 1A to solve the problem. I'm curious though, how does the slim PSP solve this problem as surely it only uses 1 USB port for charging? Does it just naturally draw so much less power that its not an issue anymore? One would think if it DID then Sony would have been happy to allow it to charge ALL the time USB is plugged in. The only logical reason not to do that is if it still suffers the above problem.
I have a Fat PSP and charge by USB port even when using it, even using the USB port accessing the ms from the Mac/PC, so Slim PSP should have no issues doing the same, just a Sony issue not a PSP issue. They just like to enable stuff on updated firmware to make it look good I bet. CFW still years ahead than offical firmware.
Sonii's usbcharge function was one of the things that dissapointed about the slim. So thanks for fixing this for us. The scene doing Sonii's job again. Suggestion for "next release" if...: It would be great if it had an on/off function, hotkeys perhaps, or if it could work with the xmb usb charge on/off. Will it not cause extra strain too the battery if it gets small charges every now and then, when its plugged in?
I have the same doubt as above..
It's good that someone has recognized a good feature, and a feature that Sony should have included with the PSP slim when it came out. No one wants to watch their psp charge via USB, they want to play while it charges. Silly Sony. Anyway, thanks, I've been in your debt ever since the 1st GTA eloader. You guys are great.

Well all I can say is my FAT PSP DEFINATELY has charging issues over USB using only a single USB port because it draws too much of the power when playing games. You can see the light go green whenever it uses a lot of power then back to orange. Often it flickers between the two as the power usage is varying. If I leave it turned off or use the official charger, its fine.

could u make it for old psp?
PSP Slim USB Charger Plugin people not for the fat psp ![]() |
This is a great release. This is why Noobz is so great. Really making some cool contributions to the PSP homeberw scene. I don't know what SONY was thinking by having the PSP Slim & Lite only charge when it is inoperable in "USB Connection" status. Thanks for keeping the future of the PSP homebrew scene alive with releases for the Slim & Lite. Long live Team Noobz.
thank for everything these last few weeks
thank you guys |
"I don't know what SONY was thinking by having the PSP Slim & Lite only charge when it is inoperable in "USB Connection" status." Probably what I explained above. I do not believe it charges properly while powered on because most of the 500mA is used for powering the PSP leaving very little to none left over to charge the battery.
Alex Atkin: The PSP Slim by default only charges when in USB mode, hence it will only charge the PSP when it is using the USB bus. As the PSP does not run directly on the USB power it always feeds the battery which then feeds the PSP even if it is a low current it will still help extend the battery power. So as they designed the Slim to charge like I do not think you need to worry and I certainly do not find that it bounces between charge and not charging with either PC or USB mains adapted.
I suppose this is the right place to give feedback about this plugin so I hope the author(s) of it read(s) these comments I noticed a few things: 1) When the plugin is enabled and the PSP Slim is usb-plugged, in the "System settings / Battery information" screen it still says: Hours left: flickers uselessly between 0:00 and any an approximate time left if there was no usb-charging going on Power Source: Battery Battery Status: In use Shouldn't it be displaying: Hours left: - Power Source: External Battery Status: Charging 2) When the PSP is charging through USB using this plug-in, shouldn't it inhibit the firmware's feature automatically powering off the PSP after the lap of time defined in the Power Saving Settings?. Currently, even when charging up, my PSP (e.g with 5min idle-before-shutting-down set) shuts down at the set idle time, cutting off the USB-charging (the orange power LED switches off completely). 3) Following 2), if the PSP was charging through USB using the plug-in, then auto-switched off, and I switch the PSP back on again (USB is still plugged in), the battery indicator on the screen doesn't start flickering again. I don't know if this is a gfx bug, or if the plug-in didn't enable usb-charging again. I am not sure how the plug-in works, but maybe it should now and then check again if the usb cable is plugged in or not (or at least when the plug-in prx was just loaded), instead of just hooking the and events. Hope my feedback is not too much noobish. Thx for the wonderful work you all do Thx for the wonderful work ! |
Sashimi: Here are the responses (and yes I am reading ). The main reason that the graphical glitches and stuff like that are due to the fact that Sony did not code the VSH to handle the charging of the PSP via the USB as it does not officially support it. The main thing that you should base the charging status on is the charging LED, once it is fully charged it will turn back to green. |
Swindle > I am honored to get a answer from the Mr. Author himself Just to say in my 3) I forgot to mention that when powering on after a auto-power-saving powering-off, the LED does not turn orange but rather just simply green. Basically, I think that powering on after an auto-power-off has occured doesn't activate auto usb-charging via the plug-in again. Could someone else try this out please ? Thx again for the work. |
@Sashimi I had my slim auto power off then boot back up yes it does not re-enable usb charging but remove the USB cable then plug it back in and then it works again.
hey thought id let you guys know this breaks chotto shot.
Thanks for this great plugin, finally the USB charging works as expected. When I first tried my Slim, I was wondering if it was broken because USB charging didn't work. I had to read the manual to discover the peculiar way Sony coded it. However, there's one drawback. As ICEy already mentioned and as I discovered today, the Gocam doesn't work when the VSH plugin is enabled. I didn't test the GAME plugin, but I guess it doesn't mess up the cam, unless you're using the GoEdit soft.
ICEy: yes, I was about to make a notice about this issue Sometimes, the "camera" feature in the XMB freezes the whole psp while loading. I haven't figured exactly when (i'd have to try pluging in the chottocam before enabling the plug-in, doing it also the other way round, etc.) |
Dark_AleX seems to have fixed it in 3.71 M33-2, although I didn't test it yet. Someone reported the GPS was working with USB charching enabled.
Hey guys, i wanted to let you know that this product seems to give you the same feeling over the fat psp as you have with the slim, except you dont have the luxury of having any kind of usb cord at your disposal to recharge. http://www.pspfanboy.com/2007/09/12/usb-charge-for-any-psp-through-new-accessory/
how to get a psp to charge without a charger
Sorry guys ahead of time, I'm new here and trying to use the USB Charger plugin. It tell me to move seplugins/UsbSlimCharge.prx to ms0:/seplugins but I can't find this folder, I assumed it was on the memory card but I think I'm a noob and missing something. Can you noobz help?
Someone should port the game "Avernum" to psp. or atleast "Exile 2 crystal souls" cause there both open source and would make an awsome addition to psp homebrew. there at spiderweb softwares website. plz!! that'd be the best game to have on psp.
Does not work together with Firmware Extender 1.81's USB-streaming. Charging goes fine, USB-streaming goes to just a black screen. Strangely it doesn't help by disabling this plugin, I need to remove the files for USB-streaming to start working. The USB-charging did not have any issues though, seemed to work just fine.
I have psp 3.52 M33 wud it work with it? Ps: i love ya mam's titties ![]()
boob, the title of the program may give a hint as to if it will work on your PSP, as it is just for the PSP slim/lite (due to different hardware and sony adding the option to the lite). Hence as 352 is not compatible with the lite then the answer is no you will not be able to use it.
The plugin doesn't seem to be working for me. Am using CFW 3.71 m33 I activated the plugin via the recovery menu, set my PSP slim to USB mode and still nothing. My battery meter went from 2 bars to zip. Any help would be appreciated
Great work but I have a question My PSP Slim has CFW 3.71 M33-3 and when I have enabled USB charging in Recovery Menu the PSP charge the battery correctly (without your plugin) when I play game, listen music and so forth. Therefore, I think that this plugin is not needed for my case. Or am I mistaken?
OH GOD...PEOPLE THE FAT PSP DOESNT EVEN HAVE THIS FEATURE IF YOUR WONDERING WHY ITS NOT WORKING...IT WASNT MADE THAT WAY...AND THROWING A FILE IN IT IS NOT GOING TO MAGICALLY REWIRE IT...THIS IS FOR THE SLIM PSP...
I dont under stand the read me. could some one email me an easyer one This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it
i tried plugging the usb plug into my psp but it just does not want to charge????.
Try to enable the plugin XD
i cant find this ms0:/seplugins/ folder anyway on my psp slim. any ideas?
my psp slim charges w/USB, weird huh ._. this is for teh people who dont know how to use recovery mod. still a good plug-in.
yea i dont understand the readme too. move seplugins/UsbSlimCharge.prx to ms0:/seplugins where the hell is ms0:/seplugins lol. ![]()
Its the root of your memory stick ie make a folder (if it doesnt exist) called seplugins on you mem stick in the upermost level of it... its root directory. ![]() |
ok, thanks alot man. so i just create a folder in the root called seplugins and put it there. and what does "update game.txt and vsh.txt" mean ? oh btw, root folder is in memory card right and not in flash0 right? in the memory card where the iso, music, psp and other options are? sry, just want to be sure as i dont want anything to go wrong and thanks for ur help readme : "Copy seplugins/UsbSlimCharge.prx to ms0:/seplugins/ and update game.txt and vsh.txt (there is a version in the ZIP with just this plugin in if you do not have any already)."
Take the UsbSlimCharge.prx, place it in the "seplugins" folder, then edit vsh.txt, game.txt, and pops.txt to include the following line of text inside them: ms0:/seplugins/UsbSlimCharge.prx Don't delete any of the other stuff in the txt file, just put the above text on a new line.
There is also a USB cable that has two ends, one mini usb for communication with the PSP and one that connects to the power inlet and charges your psp
Seems to me the only type of mini-USB charger you have to worry about damaging the system is the type that plug directly into the wall, like the charger for the Razr phones. I tried it once, and the menus ran at super-speed, and the disc started spinning like it was trying to go back in time. Regular USB cables to a PC should work just fine.
Hi there, I have 3.71-m33-2 - and by default I have the possibility to enable usb charging, but it does nothing...so I tried the plug-in you've provided, but I have the same for some reason it does not charge at all... No Idea ![]()
With the new firmware the USB charge works great. Even if it doesn't say its charging it is. I also tested it by playing Tekken online with a friend while the USB was plugged in (and the plugin was enabled). We played for 3 hours, I had already used the PSP for about 4 hours before, then I had a 2 hour trip back home and played Tekken and listened to some tunes. By the time I got home, one of the battery bars was gone. Before this pluging we played tekken online for about 2-3 hours and it would completely drain my battery. So this is totally awesome. And if you go to battery information and leave it there for a few minutes, you'll see that the charge (and the time left) increases.
how to charge psp when it is off without the charger via usb cable i have 3.71-m33-2 plzzz can some one tell me i tried to charge my psp but it is not charging it is switched off plzzz tell me......i don't have a charger

my big brother got new psp 2day and i cant charge the psp (slim) with the usb thingy and its battery is all the way uncharged way i do?
ArGGG Me MaTeY ArGGG Me N00bz! You really are a bunch of pathetic idiots but you are the best ![]() |
Hey chewbaka do you know about CFW? well if you don't you or your bro needs CFW(custom firmware) to use this feature. 3.60 and 3.71 m33 CFW's will work fine with this one i think.
I have the m33 custom firmware on my psp, so i extracted the file, and created a folder on my psp called seplugins. Then i went into the recovery mode and enabled both plugins. VSH and GAME. Then i went back into my psp and plugged in the mini usb end into the psp. NOTE: The cable is connected to my computer. What do i do next. The light is not changing color. Please help.
