Welcome to the revamped home of Noobz, the PSP's most clueless development team, originally Ditlew and Fanjita but now a loose collection of like-minded PSP developers. A user called 'tr.' has posted in our comments section that the very latest Japanese 'Greatest Hits' versions of Lumines have been patched to require the v3.51 firmware. Can anyone verify this news, either for Japanese version, or indeed new copies in other regions? In the meantime, people buying new copies of Lumines should obviously be careful. |

As promised, we've completed the HEN and downgrader for Japanese Lumines. This will work for both ULJS00005 (the original Lumines) and ULJS19005 ('The Best' version). In fact, both versions are identical - even so far as using the same SAVEDATA folder. The new package, containing support now for US, EU and JP versions can be downloaded below. Please note: 0okm, in conjunction with HellDrive, has also released a port of HEN to Japanese Lumines, on his blog . Our version was created independently, but we can confirm that both versions work fine. Congratulations to 0okm on his speed, I just wish we'd noticed that he had done his before we worked on ours! Major thanks are also due to Daimaou and BDIGITAL for providing us with their Japanese UMDs to work with. Make sure that you read the v3.50 Downgrader FAQ , and the readme documents in the package, for more information before downgrading. |

We've had a lot of questions about the v3.50 downgrader. Here's an attempt to clear up as many of these as possible. - Can I downgrade without reading the readme guide?
Yes, if you're feeling brave and stupid. We write the readme to protect you from common problems and mistakes during downgrading. Please read it first.
- Should I do anything before I downgrade?
Apart from the instructions in the readme, the only other thing you might want to do is to backup your Lumines savegame, if you want to preserve your profile. Just back up any folders from /PSP/SAVEDATA with the word LUMINES in the name, then copy them back once the downgrade has completed.
- Can I still play Lumines after downgrading?
Sure. Just remove the exploited Lumines save data from /PSP/SAVEDATA - either just delete it, or replace it with the backup you made before downgrading.
- How do i downgrade a firmware version less than 3.50?
Simple. Just upgrade it to v3.50, then do the downgrade. Don't upgrade via Network Update though - that will install v3.51, which won't work. Just grab the 3.50 EBOOT from the location given in the downgrader readme file.
- Which idstorage keys are altered by this downgrader?
This downgrader uses the latest idstorage hack for TA-082+ motherboards. That means that it only modifies key number 5, which means you won't suffer from most of the issues that affected earlier downgraders.
- When will the v3.11 stuck firmware fix come out?
Some time soon. We're all very busy, and will get to it as soon as we can.
- Will there be a version that doesn't need Lumines?
No. Not for a long time. Lumines is a good game, and even with all the price-jacking it's not too hard to get hold of. We did a lot of hard work to bring you this downgrader, it's not so much to ask you to make a bit of effort to track down Lumines. |

It seems that the Illuminati exploit doesn't work properly if your PSP is set to non-English settings. At a guess, it's something to do with unicode when displaying the profile name. Anyway, if you are having problems, especially with the European Lumines, then try switching your PSP to 'English' settings. One other note - Lumines sales on Amazon.com have gone up over 14,000% since yesterday! |

The All-Seeing Eye is watching you... Following research in conjunction with Archaemic, Noobz are proud to present the first ever all-firmware exploit for the PSP. Based on Lumines, the "Illuminati" exploit is a user-mode exploit using a buffer overflow in the savedata file - similar to the GTA exploit. That's right - if you've got a legal UMD copy of Lumines, then you can run homebrew on your PSP - whatever the firmware version. That includes v3.50! Right now, the only homebrew is the Hello World demo released below - but in future we intend to release a HEN and downgrader. |

I managed to find the time to fix up the problems with πKey on v3.30 OE and v3.40 OE custom firmware. So here's the latest 0.3 release, which includes support for those firmwares. It also includes a few small enhancements to make it easier to deal with problems of compatibility with other games and homebrew. |

If you've been trying to connect to the #noobz IRC chat channel recently, you'll have noticed that it is no longer online. This is because the server, irc.toc2rta.com, has been disconnected due to a botnet attack. So, we've moved the #noobz channel to irc.malloc.us. From now on, we also maintain a DNS alias of irc.noobz.eu, which will always point to the correct IRC server. So please, update your IRC client bookmarks to use 'irc.noobz.eu' instead of 'irc.toc2rta.com'. The web-based IRC client linked from the menu on the left of this page has also been updated to use the new hostname. Have fun, and sorry for any inconvenience. |

At long last, the new and updated version of πKey is finally released.
UPDATE: Last night's release contained a bug in the Danzeff plugin which caused it not to work. That bug is now fixed, and the download link has been updated.
This version brings the following major updates: - A new keypress mode, which allows more natural use of the keyboard in action games etc. The default mode is now keypress mode, and the keyboard will switch automatically to text input mode when required.
- Custom key-to-button assignment - so now you can define WASD buttons for FPS game movement, as well as cursor keys for XMB movement, for instance.
- Support for mapping keypresses to analog joystick movements.
- Support for converting keypresses into Danzeff OSK presses - so now you can use your physical keyboard with homebrew that uses the Danzeff virtual keyboard - e.g. AFKIM.
- Installer now fixed to correctly install to flash0, to support GAME150 homebrew.
- Palm UW keyboard ought to at least partially work, but I can't test it myself.
- Optional on-screen status information.
- Various minor bugfixes.
